What Does Liposuction Mean?
Liposuction is a surgical procedure, in which, using a specialized suction device, fat is removed from the desired body part through small dot-like cuts. Areas for liposuction can be, for example, the stomach, thighs, sides, limbs, neck, or multiple areas at once.
The MicroAIR Power-Assisted Liposuction (PAL) device used at Muotosairaala represents the latest development in liposuction, combining precision, patient-friendliness, and excellent recovery. The device uses gentle mechanical vibration, which helps detach fat from the tissue as gently as possible. This enables effective fat removal while minimizing tissue damage, swelling, and bruising.
MicroAIR technology makes the procedure safer and more comfortable for the patient, as well as more ergonomic for the surgeon. Especially in liposuction of larger areas or previously treated areas, MicroAIR offers superior control and precision. The result is smoother and more natural.
Liposuction – The Procedure and Recovery
Liposuction is done in either anesthesia or local anesthesia with relaxing medication. The procedure can almost always be done during one day, meaning that the patient can go home the same day.
In liposuction, small cuts (around 5 mm) are made to the skin areas operated on. A mixture of salt solution, adrenaline, and local anesthesia is sprayed into the adipose tissue through these cuts. This results in the area going numb and the blood vessels contracting, minimizing bruising.
After this, a thin cannula is inserted into the adipose tissue, and it carefully sucks out the suitable amount of fat. The amount of fat removed can be controlled, and the body shaped.
Possible Complications of Liposuction
During an appointment with a plastic surgeon, the situation is evaluated, the procedure is planned, and the surgical technique is discussed and explained. The distinct features and wishes of each client are considered when planning the procedure.
The decision to go through with the surgery is always based on the client’s own wishes, and the result is considered individually.
We will always be honest about what can be achieved with the procedure.
