The surgery and surgery day at the hospital, which I had considered for a very long time and felt very nervous about in advance, could not have gone better. For someone with a strong fear of hospitals, it is a huge relief that the facilities neither look nor smell like traditional hospital premises. Instead, the feeling is more like being in a high-quality spa, without compromising the sense of professionalism and reliability. Arriving at the hospital and then moving on to prepare for the surgery all happened with a very low threshold, and I did not really even feel like I was a patient.
I like that the hospital facilities are fairly small, which also makes them more comfortable and pleasant. There is no institutional feeling. Everything, from the facilities to the outfits used and the food served, creates a very high-quality impression. Understandably, this is not possible in the same way in public healthcare, but it calms the mind of a Muotosairaala client and makes the experience even better.
The staff are exceptionally friendly and warm in their manner, across the board. Special thanks go to my incredibly skilled surgeon, Elena Surcel, who also supported me throughout the entire year-long process leading up to the actual surgery, listening to me and answering my concerns and fears whenever needed. This is a big matter, and in many cases it has been processed for years, or as in my own case, for decades, before one decides to proceed with surgery. The nurses who monitored me before and after the surgery and helped me with warmth, neither of whose names I unfortunately know, were absolutely wonderful and played a major role in my positive experience.
It has now been six days since the surgery, so I am still at the very beginning of recovery, but I already know that I made the right decision in going through with it and in choosing this hospital. In addition, the pain and discomfort have been considerably less than I feared. As for pain, surprisingly, it has so far been almost non-existent. The final surgical result will settle over time, but what I have already seen is astonishing. I do not understand how anyone can be so skilled at doing something like this. Thank you, Elena Surcel, and the entire Muotosairaala team. I have already recommended you widely and will continue to do so. If I ever need the services of a plastic surgeon again, there is no doubt where I will turn.
