Maiju’s special areas of expertise are facial procedures, treating changes from aging, and fat grafting.
Maiju Härmä graduated as a physician in 2006, as a Doctor of Medical Science in 2007, and as a specialist in plastic surgery in 2016. In addition, she completed clinical fellowship training in Toronto, Canada, in 2017–2019. Maiju worked at Toronto General and SickKids hospitals, deepening her expertise in breast reconstructions and the treatment of congenital deformities of the head area. Her versatile experience enables a thorough overall evaluation of the patient’s situation, and the treatment can be chosen from a wide range of different options.
After returning from Canada, Maiju continued working at the plastic surgery clinic of Helsinki University Hospital and at private hospitals in Helsinki. She left her specialist position in 2023 and began fulfilling her long-term dream of founding a private hospital together with her colleagues. Maiju still continues at the University of Helsinki as a supervisor of doctoral dissertations. Teaching and guiding younger colleagues has always been especially meaningful to her. Outside work, family, friends, the archipelago, and outdoor activities, especially at her own cottage, are important to Maiju.
