Intimate Surgery Corrects or Enhances the Genitals
Malformations can be brought by aging, giving birth, or previous surgery, and sometimes they can be congenital. Intimate surgery can treat functional, aesthetic, and social discomfort.
Labiaplasty
Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure in which the labia minora, the inner tissues of the female genitalia, are reshaped.
Excess labial tissue can cause irritation and pain, making certain physical activity and intercourse uncomfortable.
Labiaplasty can be performed for aesthetic reasons as well. However, it is important to remember that ideal or “normal” labia cannot be defined as there are many kinds of labia.
The labia majora, the outer tissues of the female genitalia, often become thinner and shrink with age, affecting the labia minora as well. Slim labia majora can be treated with fillers or fat grafting as this restores their fullness and makes the labia minora show less.
What Can Labiaplasty Help With?
- The surgery can decrease the size of the labia minora so that they are even with or inside your labia majora. Excess tissue can turn, twist, squeeze, or pull back and cause physical discomfort and irritation during physical activity (e.g., running or cycling) and intercourse.
- The surgery can help improve hygiene and health. Excess tissue can complicate cleaning and contain bacteria that can cause urinary tract infections (UTI).
- The surgery can be done for aesthetic and emotional reasons.
Labiaplasty – Procedure and Recovery
Labiaplasty is typically done using local anesthesia. The procedure doesn’t require an overnight stay.
Recovering from a labiaplasty is quite fast. The aftercare is cleaning with water and good hygiene. The wounds typically heal fast, and you can return to your normal everyday life a few days or a week after the procedure.
Having intercourse is prohibited for approximately one week after surgery, depending on the procedure.
