Sculptra® Injection Treatment
Sculptra® is a collagen stimulation treatment that activates the skin’s own collagen production, providing firmer, more compact skin and a neater look. The active ingredient of this treatment is poly-L-lactic acid. The treatment is suitable for clients over 35 years of age.
The results of the treatment are revealed in the following few months: Sculptra® increases your skin’s own collagen production, gradually improving the texture and elasticity of your skin. This treatment doesn’t bring additional volume to your face the way other injection treatments do. This way, the treatment helps maintain your skin’s composure and beauty, subtly rejuvenating your appearance.
Sculptra® has natural results that may last for over two years. However, we recommend follow-up treatments to preserve your results better.
Sculptra® Treatment Can
- slow down signs of aging
- help with sagging cheeks
- decrease the thinning and wrinkling of the skin
- decrease furrows, lines, and wrinkles
- make your skin neater and more compact before filler treatments.
Sculptra® Injection Treatment – Procedure
Sculptra® treatment is done using cannulas or small needles to inject the cheeks and, if needed, the temples. Using numbing cream varies on each patient (in treatments done using cannulas, it is unnecessary). The treatment is well tolerated.
The final results of the treatment can be seen 4-6 months after. A good result usually requires 2-3 rounds of treatment with 4-8 weeks in between. Treatments meant to prevent signs of aging (with patients under 40) or for maintenance can be done as single treatments.
More Information
Risks of the Treatment
Sculptra® Injection Treatment is generally safe.
After the treatment, mild swelling may occur. All injection treatments always involve a risk of bruising and a small risk of infection.
A rare side effect is subcutaneous unevenness. The risk can be significantly reduced with proper aftercare. The risk of vascular occlusion is very low when the treatment is performed using cannulas.
Before Treatment
- An active skin disease in the treatment area prevents the treatment from being performed.
- The treatment is not performed during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
- To minimize the risk of bruising, we recommend avoiding anti-inflammatory pain medication, omega-3 supplements and fish oil supplements for 2 weeks before the treatment. Anti-inflammatory pain medication, omega-3 or fish oil supplements, or blood-thinning medication do not, however, prevent the treatment from being performed.
- Please remove any makeup before the treatment.
Treatment
- The treatment takes approximately 45 minutes.
- Sculptra® contains a local anesthetic, but mild stinging and discomfort may occur.
After Treatment
To ensure the optimal result of Sculptra® treatment, it is important that you follow the aftercare instructions.
- The treatment causes mild swelling and sometimes redness.
- Makeup and sweating, such as sauna and exercise, are not recommended on the day of the treatment. From the following morning onwards, the skin may be wetted.
- Massage the treated skin area for 5 days after the treatment. Repeat a 5-minute massage five times a day according to the instructions given by your doctor. Use moisturizer during the massage to reduce friction.
- The final results of the treatment can be seen after 4–6 months.
- For clients over 40, we recommend 2–3 treatments with 4–8 weeks in between. Maintenance treatment is recommended every 1–2 years according to an individual treatment plan.
