Risks of the Treatment
SkinPen Precision Elite is a microneedling treatment designed for use only by medical professionals. The treatment is generally very safe when performed by a trained healthcare professional. Rare risks include infections and, very rarely, pigmentation changes, especially if the aftercare instructions are not followed.
Possible temporary effects may include:
- Redness of the skin (1–2 days)
- Mild swelling, heat or stinging
- Dryness and flaking of the skin

More Information
Before Treatment
- Avoid sun exposure in the days before the treatment. We do not recommend the treatment if the skin is heavily tanned.
- Do not use products that irritate the skin, such as retinol, for 24 hours before the treatment.
- Please arrive for the treatment without makeup.
- Men should shave the treatment area before the treatment.
- The treatment is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
- Skin inflammation, herpes or an active skin disease in the treatment area prevents the treatment from being performed. If necessary, please book an appointment with a Muotosairaala dermatologist beforehand.
- Bleeding disorders, as well as diseases and medications affecting the immune system, may sometimes prevent the treatment from being performed.
- Smoking and nicotine products may reduce the effectiveness of the treatment.
Treatment
- Before the treatment, the skin is carefully cleansed.
- Numbing cream is usually used to make the treatment more comfortable. The numbing cream is applied 1 hour before the procedure.
- The treatment usually takes 20–60 minutes, depending on the area being treated.
- During the treatment, you may feel mild stinging and heat, but the treatment is well tolerated.
- After the treatment, a soothing mask is applied to the face.
- You will receive aftercare products to take home with you after the treatment.
After Treatment
- The skin may be red and sensitive for 1–2 days.
- Makeup and sunscreens should be avoided for 24 hours. Avoid sun exposure during this time.
- After this, protect the skin carefully from the sun with SPF 50 sunscreen.
- Avoid sauna and sweating for three days.
- The results develop gradually.
