Elena’s special areas of expertise are breast plastic surgery and body contouring surgery.
Plastic surgeon Elena Surcel is known for her excellent visual perception and artistic talent. She completed her basic medical training in Oulu, graduating as a specialist in plastic surgery in 2018. In 2019, she moved on to work at the plastic surgery clinic of Helsinki University Hospital.
At Helsinki University Hospital, Elena has done versatile work with a focus on breast surgery. The methods have ranged from microsurgical techniques to various techniques for reshaping the breast gland. In the private sector, she has worked alongside her hospital work since 2020 and is one of the founders of Muotosairaala. Elena is especially interested in new innovations and bringing them into patient care. Most recently, she has trained in the Preservé® method, a tissue-sparing and modern way to perform breast augmentations, and was the first to bring the service to Finland. Her goal is to combine safety, beauty, and patient wellbeing by offering the most modern solutions in aesthetic surgery at Muotosairaala.
Elena is an excellent example of a plastic surgeon whose expertise combines art and science with the skill of a talented surgeon. She is also a dissertation researcher at the University of Helsinki. Her research project focuses on the quality-of-life effects of surgical treatment for tubular breast deformity. The motivation behind the research is to demonstrate the effects of quality-of-life surgical treatment on patients’ wellbeing. One should always examine one’s own work critically.
