Botox for Excessive Sweating

Botulinum toxin, commonly known as Botox or BTX, is an effective treatment to reduce local excessive sweating, hyperhidrosis.

Botox for Treating Excessive Sweating

In the treatment, botulinum toxin is injected into the skin of the problematic area as small droplets. The treatment is usually done without local anesthesia when treating the forehead or armpit area. In other areas, numbing cream is often used.

The effect of the treatment will show after a few days, and the final result can be seen after 7-10 days. The results last for 3-6 months, and treatments for maintaining the result are therefore needed.

Risks of the Treatment

Small bruises are possible in all injection treatments. To minimize bruising, we recommend refraining from using infection pain medication and omega-3 and fish oil supplements for 2 weeks prior to the treatment.

Botox treatment for excessive sweating can cause mild side effects in the muscles of the treated area. For example, the forehead’s flexibility may decrease in forehead Botox injections (the same way as in aesthetic Botox treatment).

The treatment is not done to those currently pregnant or breastfeeding.

Usually, the client themselves retrieves the medication from the pharmacy and brings it to the doctor’s appointment.
